Trackhouse Racing is entering its third season in the NASCAR Cup Series with Ross Chastain in the No. 1 car and Daniel Suarez in the No. 99 car. It may have been a slow beginning in 2021; however, the team has made tremendous strides.

Chastain won the first career Cup Series race for himself and the organization at Circuit of the Americas last year. Then, it turned into a victory at Talladega Superspeedway before Suarez claimed his first career win at Sonoma Raceway.

Unfortunately for them, Chastain came up just short of the Cup Series championship behind Team Penske driver Joey Logano. Now after a successful season, the organization and its drivers are on the radar.

Trackhouse Racing ‘not interested’ in a switch to Toyota, committed to Chevrolet

Toyota is reportedly interested in expanding its NASCAR Cup Series program as the manufacturer only has seat seats between Joe Gibbs Racing and 23XI Racing. This has created a seat problem where there are too many young Toyota drivers leaving the manufacturer.

Due to that report, Trackhouse Racing was among many teams being speculated as a team switching over to Toyota. It’s hard to blame those people as the organization has seen tremendous success in only two seasons.

Trackhouse Racing team owner Justin Marks went on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and discussed the possibility of the organization repping a new manufacturer in the foreseeable future.

“For (Trackhouse Racing), we’re not interested. Our relationship with Chevrolet is so important to us, we are key partners with Chevrolet. We have tethered ourselves to the trajectory, to the commitment, to the passion that they have got for this sport…I think more Toyotas on the race track would be good for (David Wilson) and good for his group over there, it just won’t be with (Trackhouse Racing).”

Justin Marks on the rumors of Trackhouse Racing possibly switching to Toyota

This would be a disappointing development for Toyota as Trackhouse Racing probably represents the best team that would be able to switch over. Hendrick Motorsports and Team Penske are arguably the only two teams that are better outside of Toyota and they won’t be going anywhere.

It would have been a massive addition to the fleet; however, it appears the manufacturer will need to look elsewhere if true. Sometimes, the full truth is not mentioned in the public sphere so it is never something that can be totally ruled out.

If there are rumblings of a potential switch, it’s hard to say that it definitely won’t happen. As for now, Trackhouse Racing will continue to grow into a powerhouse organization for Chevrolet.
