Tony Romo: I’m ‘about 99 percent’ retired

Tony Romo

Tony Romo won’t rule out retirement as he steps away from the NFL and into the world of NFL broadcasting.

Speaking with media after being announced as the newest member of CBS’ NFL broadcast team, Romo wouldn’t close the door completely on a return to the NFL.

Just when you thought the saga was over.

Romo also addressed his much talked about health status, noting he’s healthier now than he was back in 2014 before his health problems became a huge issue.

The Houston Texans are a team that could use Romo’s services and are one that would reportedly pursue Romo, now that he’s released. His deal with CBS reportedly includes an out for him to return to the playing field, so it’s unclear how any of that might work out.

Truthfully, Romo should just slam the door shut. He’s going to do great at his new digs as Phil Simms’ replacement, despite some who object to the move. And now that he’s no longer playing, he’ll have a bit more time to pursue his second passion, playing golf.
