The Apple TV+ docuseries “The Dynasty” on the New England Patriots has shed light on one of the best NFL dynasties ever, the relationship between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and new details about Aaron Hernandez during his Patriots’ career. However, the series has faced criticism and has now sparked a conspiracy.
One of the common criticisms of the docuseries is a widespread belief that Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft heavily influenced it, using the 10-part series to portray former head coach Bill Belichick in a negative light. The alleged guidance from Kraft of what stories were told in “The Dynasty” has also led to a new conspiracy gaining traction that Brady had a specific clip edited to take attention away from former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles.

It all ties back to the Philly Special, otherwise known as Philly Philly, in Super Bowl LIII. On 4th-and-goal with 38 seconds left in the second quarter and leading 15-12, the Eagles ran the now famous trick play. Jason Kelce snapped the ball to Corey Clement, who flipped it to Trey Burton and Burton then threw a touchdown pass to Foles.
As first uncovered by Todd Orodenker, the replayed footage of the “Philly Special” touchdown was edited. Al Michaels’ touchdown call inexplicably doesn’t include him saying Foles’ name, even though the Eagles’ quarterback caught the game-changing touchdown pass. Yet, as Orodenker highlighted, the original audio of the call clearly has Michaels saying Foles’ name.

It’s difficult to find a reason why Apple TV would remove the one-second clip of Michaels saying Foles’ name. While it’s possible that this was a simple oversight by Apple or even a decision that someone like Kraft could’ve influenced out of respect for Brady, it adds fuel to the inexplicable beef between the two quarterbacks.
After losing to Foles in the Super Bowl, Brady didn’t shake the quarterback’s hand and he again didn’t shake hands with his peer after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost to Foles’ Chicago Bears 20-19 in 2020.
After that moment in 2020, Brady told reporters in his post-game press conference that he respected Foles and sometimes just doesn’t always shake hands with the opposing quarterback after the game.
“I think Nick Foles is a hell of a player and a Super Bowl champ. I don’t know one reason or another why I wouldn’t do that. Sometimes I run off the field, sometimes I haven’t.”

While neither quarterback has suggested there is any resentment or issues between them, two losses to Foles without a handshake followed by the quarterback’s name being excluded from the legendary Super Bowl call is only fueling rumors that Brady has a grudge against Foles.
