Tom Brady has great response to question about whether he’s earned a new contract

Tom Brady held his first press availability of New England Patriots training camp on Wednesday, and naturally he was asked about a new contract.

Brady and the Pats reportedly are nowhere near a contract extension, and there have been reports that he may not get one before this coming season.

When Brady was asked if he’s earned a new deal, he gave reporters a tremendous response.

“Have I earned it? I dunno,” Brady quipped, per Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston. “That’s up for talk show debate. What do you guys think? Should we take a poll? Talk to Mr. Kraft, c’mon! No, like I said, we got a great relationship so we’ll see how it goes.”

For what it’s worth, the Patriots are in uncharted waters here. Brady, set to turn 42 on August 3, has somehow maintained an incredibly high level of play at an age when most quarterbacks have already retired for years. Brady’s former peer, Peyton Manning, suffered a precipitous drop off in production in his late-30s.

Yet Brady continues to defy Father Time.

It sure seems like the Patriots are taking a wait-and-see approach with Brady at this time. And while he certainly wouldn’t be upset about a new deal, it also seems like Brady is perfectly fine with where he’s at.
