The New York Jets will be without head coach Todd Bowles Saturday for their matchup against the New England Patriots. According to the team website, Bowles was admitted to a local hospital Friday afternoon with an undisclosed illness, though thankfully he is in stable condition.
At this time, it’s unknown if he will be able to attend the game in any capacity, per the report. If he cannot attend, then Mike Caldwell will assume head coaching duties this weekend.
New York’s season has been full of frustrating developments and disappointment. With a record of 4-10, things haven’t gone according to plan whatsoever this year after the team won 10 games in 2015.
The Patriots can seal up the No. 1 seed in the AFC this weekend with a win and an Oakland Raiders’ loss. The Jets, at this point, are just evaluating players to see who’s going to stick around as the team picks up the pieces in 2017.
We wish coach Bowles and his family well and hope for a swift recovery.
