Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch will lead the Western Conference All-Stars after clinching the honor Sunday night.
The Timberwolves routed the Houston Rockets 111-90 to improve to 35-15 and hold the best record in the West through games of Feb. 4 as well as having the edge on all tiebreaking scenarios.
The NBA All-Star Game is Feb. 18 at Indianapolis.
Finch will be the All-Star coach for the first time in his career. He is in his fourth season with the Timberwolves.
Finch, 54, will become just the second coach in Timberwolves’ history to run the All-Star team. Flip Saunders coached the Western Conference to a 136-132 victory in the 2004 All-Star Game in Los Angeles.
Finch guided the Timberwolves to the playoffs in each of the past two seasons.
Doc Rivers of the Milwaukee Bucks will coach the Eastern Conference.
