Tim Tebow, Mets

Not that this is incredibly surprising, but the New York Mets sent Tim Tebow down to their minor league camp during their first cuts of spring training.

Tim Healey of Newsday passed along the news Friday:

Tebow had a rough go of it this spring, both at the plate and in the field. He went batted .154 this spring (2-of-13), striking out six times, and made numerous errors in the outfield — including a brutal tumble when he tripped over his own shoelaces.

In three minor league seasons, Tebow has a paltry .223 batting average with 327 strikeouts in 940 at-bats. It sure seems like it’s time for the Mets to end the Tebow experiment. But given his popularity, that may not happen.
