With the PGA Tour under Congressional investigation for their shocking merger with LIV Golf, it looks like Tiger Woods is no longer a loyal soldier.
When the PGA Tour announced in June that they had agreed to merge with bitter rivals LIV Golf, it was one of the most stunning and historic moments in golf history. The two leagues had been in the midst of an ugly war for over a year that saw superstars banned and ongoing litigation between the two sides.

All the drama was seemingly put to rest when the PGA Tour and LIV Golf decided to team up going forward. However, the drama did not end there as the Tour received backlash from fans for getting in bed with a league backed by an arm of the Saudi Arabian government. And players that stayed loyal to the PGA were angered that being faithful to the legendary tour and passing on huge paydays in LIV was not rewarded.
Yet, worse than all of that was the fact that Congress opened an investigation soon after the news of the merger. Now, the PGA is on the defensive again as they try to prove their deal with LIV is in the best interest of the sport. In doing so, they have provided Congress with internal documents related to their battle with LIV and eventual partnership.
Tiger Woods denies taking part in infamous PGA Tour players meeting in 2022
Over the weekend, some of those documents were leaked, and they included details of an alleged meeting with PGA Tour players in June of 2022 that reportedly featured golf icon Tiger Woods trying to garner loyalty to the tour in their developing war with LIV. The memos even included supposed talking points the PGA prepared for Woods. However, the man that’s won 15 majors brought the legitimacy of those documents into question in a tweet on Monday.

The well-publicized players meeting from last year was believed to be pivotal in the battle between the two tours and allegedly helped keep many top players among the PGA ranks due to Woods’ involvement.
It is not a good look for the PGA Tour to have their most famous and well-respected player making public denials of key claims during a serious investigation from Congress. This will surely be something to watch in the days and weeks ahead as the inquiry plays out.
