Sometimes despair is so palpable it can only be expressed through child-like overtures of raw emotion.

Such was the case on Saturday afternoon when a few Texas football fans run into an emotional wall over the program’s continued special-teams woes.

This was the scene following a failed chip-in field goal attempt in the second quarter.

It was a gimme, yet kicker Nick Rose shanked it badly, resulting in agony for every Longhorns fan watching across the nation. It just so happened that the ABC camera crew landed on these three chaps.

You can see the full range of emotions on display here. The guy on the right knows it’s horrible but is trying to just gut it out. The guy in the middle is absolutely beside himself with sadness to the point of physical failure. And then the guy on the left is the friend who deals with sadness by shoving it deep down inside himself while consoling the inconsolable.

It was the second bad mistake of the day for Texas special teams.
