The Texas Rangers activated right-hander Dane Dunning from the 10-day injured list Friday, while also selecting the contract of catcher Yohel Pozo.

To make room on the active roster, left-hander Wes Benjamin and first baseman Curtis Terry were optioned to Triple-A Round Rock, while right-hander Jimmy Herget was designated for assignment to open a 40-man roster spot for Pozo.

Dunning, 26, was 5-7 with a 4.07 ERA in 20 starts for the Rangers this season before going on the IL Aug. 4 with a right ankle impingement. He is technically still a rookie after making seven starts with the Chicago White Sox last season before he was moved to Texas in the deal that brought Lance Lynn to Chicago.

Pozo, 24, is on a major league roster for the first time. He was batting .337 with a .958 OPS at Round Rock with 19 home runs and 63 RBIs.

Benjamin, 28, was 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA in eight appearances with the Rangers, while Terry, 24, was batting just .089 over 13 games.

Herget, 27, was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in four outings with the Rangers this season.
