Texas AD non-committal about Charlie Strong after loss to Oklahoma State

The Texas Longhorns were handed their second loss of the year on Saturday, falling to 2-2 on the season. After the game, Texas athletic director Mike Perrin made a statement to Anwar Richardson of Rivals that could potentially signal an abrupt end to Charlie Strong’s tenure with the program.

Texas was blown out in the game Saturday against Oklahoma State, losing 49-31.

In particular, the Longhorns’ defense was overmatched as the Cowboys’ passing game dominated to the tune of 392 yards through the air. Mason Rudolph was highly efficient, going 19-of 28 on the day, averaging 14 yards per attempt, and he completed three touchdown passes.

Making matters worse, Texas’ special teams was anything but special. Three field goals were blocked in the game by Oklahoma State, which is a rather remarkable feat not seen often in college football.

Since shocking the nation by defeating Notre Dame in Week 1, Texas has been underwhelming, to say the least. Getting beaten by Cal was the first sign things might be crumbling, and Saturday’s loss will resound for quite some time.
