Texans’ J.J. Watt provides positive update on rehab efforts

A lot was made of the season-ending ACL injury star rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered in late October.

But the Houston Texans’ season also changed dramatically when three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt went down in Week 5 with a fractured tibial plateau in his left leg. It was a devastating injury for both the player and the team.

In order for Houston to contend next season, it must have both Watson and Watt at full health. The two provided a nice little update earlier in January, but Watt has now apparently taken his rehab to the next level.

As we can easily see, Watt is showing not issues stemming from the leg fracture he suffered three-plus months ago. That has to be music to the ears of Texans fans the world over.

At this point, it looks like he will be able to take part in at least some organized team activities during the offseason. Considering how bad the injury first looked, that has to be considered good news for the Texans.

Houston followed up two consecutive AFC South titles with a disastrous 4-12 record this past season. It has no picks in the first two rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft. But getting Watt and Watson back in the mix will surely act like the team adding a couple elite-level players — both of whom missed a majority of the 2017 campaign.
