Terrell Owens is now a CFL free agent

Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens is now free to sign with any Canadian Football League team of his choosing.

After activating a seven-day window to negotiate a contract with the former NFL Pro Bowler, the Edmonton Eskimos have dropped the 44-year-old Owens from their negotiating list, TSN reported on Friday.

Owens has made it clear that he plans on playing professionally up north next season. When Edmonton placed him on their negotiating list, it seems to be a perfect fit. Alas, that’s not going to be the case.

Set to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame later this summer in Ohio, Owens has noted that he’s not going to attend the annual event. He’s also made news recently by calling the New England Patriots cheaters.

Some might think that this won’t bode well for his chances to latch on professionally after having not played a game since 2010. But Canada is an entirely different monster. Heck, Maybe Owens can team up with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Johnny Manziel. While we’re at it, maybe Owens can form a new dynamic duo with fellow free agent Colin Kaepernick up north.

That would be some popcorn-worthy drama.
