Team Liquid wins quarterfinal at Spring American Showdown

Team Liquid defeated Nouns Esports 2-0 in quarterfinal action of the Blast Premier: Spring American Showdown 2023 on Thursday.

Liquid advanced to a semifinal match Saturday against paiN Gaming, which won its quarterfinal contest on Wednesday.

The $67,500 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament began Wednesday and features eight teams competing in a single-elimination bracket. All matches are best-of-three, including Sunday’s grand final.

Liquid won 16-6 on the first map, Inferno, and 16-8 on Nuke. Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski of the U.S. led the winners with 40 kills and a kills-deaths differential of plus-16. David “cynic” Polster, also of the U.S., made 41 kills and had a plus-7 for Nouns.

The final two quarterfinals are set for Friday: Complexity vs. Imperial Esports and FURIA Esports vs. Evil Geniuses Black. Both semifinals will be Saturday.
