Team Liquid solidified their hold on first place in Group B by sweeping two matches Saturday in the $500,000 Dota Pro Circuit Lima Major.

Liquid improved to 5-2 with 2-0 victories over beastcoast and Shopify Rebellion (SR) in Group B action. Liquid won in 35 minutes on red and 22 minutes on green over beastcoast. They took down SR in 52 minutes on red and 23 minutes on green.

Every Group B match Saturday ended with a sweep. Entity took down HellRaisers and BetBoom Team in sweeps. Team Aster also earned two sweeps, beating Geek Slate and the last-place Knights.

By contrast, four Group A matches ended in 1-1 ties. Team Spirit went 1-0-1 on the day to deadlock Gaimin Gladiators atop the group. Spirit swept Tundra Esports and tied with last-place EHOME.

Meanwhile, Gladiators went 0-1-1, getting swept by Evil Geniuses and tying TSM.

The Lima Major is the first major of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023 season, and the first DPC major ever held in South America. The 18-team event consists of four teams each from Western Europe and China, three each from Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, and two each from North America and South America.

A pair of nine-team groups will conduct round-robin play through Sunday, with all matches best-of-two. The top four teams from each group advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, and the fifth- and sixth-place teams in each group move on to the lower bracket.

The playoffs (double-elimination, best-of-three) begin Tuesday, with the Grand Final taking place March 5. The Grand Final will be the only best-of-five match of the tournament. The winner will take home $200,000 and 400 DPC points. Second is worth $100,000 and 350 points.

The group stage concludes with eight matches on Sunday.
