Team asks NBA Draft prospect how he wants to die

Um. Morbid interviews with prospective job seekers are not necessarily a common occurrence around the professional world. That’s until we focus on the NBA, where at least one team decided to ask former Kansas star Frank Mason III how he wanted to die.

No, really.

We really want to know how this helped with the interview process at the annual NBA Scouting Combine. If Mason had said he’d want to die by falling off a tall building instead of crossing the street and getting hit by a car, would that have changed the team’s thought process? What if he would prefer to die at the hands of an alligator?

Mason gave a somewhat canned answer of preferring to die in his sleep.

There’s so many questions that remain unanswered here. At the very least, Mason can hope that this won’t play a role in the decision-making process for teams come draft time. Then again, he’s now been given something to keep his mind preoccupied until then.
