Former Seattle Seahawks and now free agent quarterback Tarvaris Jackson claims he is broke. As such, he has requested a public defender in his assault case for allegedly threatening to shoot his wife, per TMZ Sports.
Though, the request has since been denied by a judge, which means Jackson find his own means to pay for legal defense.
Apparently, the 33 year-old quarterback has burned through the $12.139 million he has been paid by the NFL since his career began in 2006.
Jackson was charged with “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon” after his wife claimed he held a gun to her and threatened to shoot her back on June 24 (harrowing details here).
According to TMZ’s report, Jackson owns a $100,000 car but has zilch in his bank accounts. Furthermore, the judge reportedly told Jackson to surrender any guns he owns and to refrain from drinking alcohol while out on bail.
Jackson played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2006-2010 and was with the Seahawks from 2011-2015, starting in a total of 34 games. Considering the legal trouble he is facing it would appear Jackson will remain a free agent for the time being.
