Suns officially sign Devin Booker to five-year, $158 million extension

As rookie No. 1 pick Deandre Ayton was dominating Summer League competition in Vegas on Saturday night, the Phoenix Suns were busy finalizing a five-year max extension for teammate Devin Booker.

In a deal that was reported to be close a few days back, the Suns signed Booker to a five-year, $158 million extension on Saturday evening.

Vegas, where money is made.

Booker, 21, is among the most-promising young players in the entire NBA. Despite dealing with injuries last season, the Kentucky product averaged 24.9 points and shot at a 38 percent mark from distance.

No player performing under his rookie deal has ever turned down a max contract extension offer. Obviously, Booker saw $158 million and couldn’t turn it down.

With Booker and Ayton, the Suns have a solid young foundation upon which to build moving forward.
