Suns acquire Kyle Korver from Grizzlies for Josh Jackson, per report

Even after the Phoenix Suns traded fellow forward T.J. Warren prior to the 2019 NBA Draft, we knew that youngster Josh Jackson was on the trade block.

We also knew that Kyle Korver’s stay with the Memphis Grizzlies would be short-lived after he was acquired in the Mike Conley trade.

So it’s not a surprise that the two were moved. Instead, we are surprised that the Grizzlies were able to acquire Jackson, DeAnthony Melton and multiple draft picks from Phoenix for Korver and Jevon Carter.

This seems to be a pretty lopsided trade in the grand scheme of things. Still only 22 years old, Jackson has untapped potential. The former No. 4 overall pick averaged 12.3 points and 4.5 rebounds in two seasons with Phoenix.

Meanwhile, Melton was a second-round pick of the Houston Rockets last year before being dealt to Phoenix. He averaged 5.0 points in limited action.

The Suns will also work on a buyout for Korver, who has been linked to his former teammate LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, among others.

A second-round pick of the Grizzlies last year, Carter averaged just 4.4 points on 30 percent shooting from the field.
