All-State Sugar Bowl

Texas 12-1 vs. Washington 13-0

Most of the time, when you think a game is going to be high-scoring, it disappoints. For this game, don’t leave the room, you might miss a touchdown.

Washington quarterback Michael Penix has led the nation in passing for two seasons since transferring from Indiana. He completed 66% of his passes for 4,218 yards and 33 touchdowns. Receiver Rome Odunze was a Bilitnekoff finalist for the best receiver in the country.

Quinn Ewers threw for 2,161 yards and 21 touchdowns for Texas. Receiver Xavier Worthy had 73 receptions for 969 yards and five touchdowns.

The Huskies’ offensive line allowed 11 sacks this season and won the  Joe Moore Award, which recognizes college football’s top offensive line. All-American T’Vondre Sweat and second-team All-American Byron Murphy II anchor a Texas defensive line that had 32 sacks and ranked third nationally in rushing yards allowed with 80.8 per game. The matchup might just be the key to the game.

We’re expecting (OK, hoping for) a shootout here. It’s really too close to call for a winner, but we’ll take Washington and the points.
