Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been sidelined since December 4th with a sprained ankle. While the two-time MVP continues to make progress, the defending champs will have to wait a little longer for him to return to the court.

The team announced on Tuesday that Curry wil be evaluated once again on Friday, at which point a determination on when he returns will likely be made.

This means that Curry will miss Golden State’s game against Utah on Wednesday. He could potentially return for Friday’s outing against his hometown Charlotte Hornets. Interestingly enough, the first game Curry missed after suffering said sprained ankle was against the Hornets in Charlotte.

The Warriors would definitely love to have Curry back on the court as soon as possible. But there’s very little reason for the team to rush him back. Fresh off a win over Cleveland on Christmas Day, Golden State is 8-1 without Curry in the lineup. The defending champs also boast an NBA-best 27-7 record.

At this point, it’s all about getting Curry 100 percent.
