Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger still not practicing

The later we get in the week without him taking to the practice field, the more likely it is that Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will miss Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Big Ben suffered an elbow injury in Week 1’s tie against the Cleveland Browns. He just recently showed up on the injury report with what was deemed a minor ailment.

Unfortunately for Roethlisberger and the Steelers, he still has not returned to practice. Instead, young quarterback Josh Dobbs got first-team reps on Thursday.

Tough as nails, it’s hard to imagine Big Ben missing such an important early-season tilt against a division rival. Even then, Pittsburgh has to do what’s best for the quarterback’s long-term health.

In playing Cleveland to a 21-21 tie last week, Roethlisberger committed five turnovers. It’s easy to conclude that this injury played a role in that. If he’s nowhere near 100 percent, we’ll likely see Mr. Dobbs on the field come Sunday.
