The news was expected and on Thursday, it became official. The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have officially made longtime quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner the offensive coordinator, replacing the departed Todd Haley.

Fichtner has worked closely with quarterback Ben Roethelisberger. In fact, when Big Ben reportedly asked for a buffer between himself and Haley, Fichtner was said to be his choice.

Fichtner has been in the Pittsburgh organization for 11 seasons. He was the receivers coach from 2007-2009, and served as the quarterbacks coach from 2010 onward.
