The Stanford Cardinal will be looking for a new starting quarterback next season. K.J. Costello announced on social media Monday that he has decided to transfer to Mississippi State.

This is a major boon for new Mississippi State head coach Mike Leach. It’s also rather clear that the 6-foot-5 Costello made this decision with his NFL future in mind.

We’ve seen quarterbacks excel big time in Leach’s spread offense, most notably stud young Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew.

Costello played only five games this past season due to injury. Back in 2018, he threw for 3,540 yards to go with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Expect him to be the Bulldogs Week 1 starter in 2020.
