Spurs’ Tony Parker to make season debut Monday

After missing the first month plus of the season with a ruptured quadriceps tendon he suffered in the playoffs, San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker will make his season debut Monday against the Dallas Mavericks.

Parker made the announcement via social media Sunday afternoon.

Parker had been on a rehab assignment for the past several weeks. But now, it looks like the 35-year-old veteran is set to return.

With Parker out thus far this season, the Spurs have posted a 12-7 record. By their standards, that has to be considered pedestrian. Though, the absence of Kawhi Leonard has played a larger role here.

Parker likely won’t start out of the gate. While Patty Mills has struggled to the tune of 36 percent shooting this season, second-year point guard Dejounte Murray has stepped it up. Expect him to get more run than Parker, at least initially.
