Danny Green only played 14 minutes in Tuesday’s win over the New York Knicks, and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich thinks it might be the shooting guard’s last action for a while.
Jabari Young of the San Antonio Express-News shared a video of Popovich responding to a question about if Green was injured.
“I think he is. We didn’t play him in the second half because of the way he moved in the first half. And we’re gonna have to make some decisions on whether to sit him. It’s been day-to-day, game-to-game and it hasn’t really worked out well, so he may have to take a rest for a while.”
Green has battled injuries throughout the 2017-18 season, so temporarily resting him is probably a wise move for San Antonio.
The sharpshooter dealt with groin tightness for much of December, during which he averaged just 6.6 points per game and missed five contests. Green had averaged 10.2 points from the beginning of the season through the end of November.
In Green’s absence, Popovich and the Spurs will likely turn to Bryn Forbes and Brandon Paul at the position.
