Last week, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred announced he was “100%” confident that there would be a season in 2020.

On Monday, he backtracked in a significant way.

Rob Manfred ‘not confident’ MLB season will happen

The MLBPA has broken off negotiations with MLB after a series of never-going-to-work proposals.

Then, Manfred admitted Monday that a season may not happen now, after all.

I’m not confident,” Manfred said, per ESPN. “I think there’s real risk: and as long as there’s no dialogue, that real risk is gonna continue.”

One could get whiplash from that kind of sudden turnaround.
