Sports world mourns the death of legendary Auburn coach Pat Dye

Legendary former Auburn football coach Pat Dye was hospitalized with a kidney issue and tested positive for COVID-19. On Monday, he passed away at the age of 80.

Over the course of his football coaching career, Dye had a 153-62-5 record. He began his coaching career as a linebackers coach at Alabama. From there, he became the head coach at East Carolina, Wyoming, and ultimately became the head coach at Auburn. After his career was over, Dye was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005.

As news of his passing circulated Monday, the sports world mourned the loss.
