Sports Recap For The Weekend, April 19-20, 2014

Happy Easter to you and yours everyone! I hope you guzzled mimosas and spent time with your loved ones. Or just watched a LOT of baseball. Either way, here is the short and sweet version of what went down in the world of NBA, NFL, and MLB.

So, Josh Reddick can hit the crap out of the ball against the Houston Astros.

A lot of people were saying that the Oakland A’s right fielder needed to be sent to the minors, well that apparently lit a fire under his ass. According to rotoworld.com, the 27 year old hit like crazy this weekend. Friday he went three-for-four with a bomb. THEN, on Saturday Reddick hit a walk-off RBI to beat the Astros. Good for you Red.

Getting hit with a 90 mph baseball will end up…

Houston Astros Double-A outfielder Delino DeShields was hit by a 90 mph fastball right to the cheek at bat this weekend. However, according to his twitter he says:

I still don’t know anything about NBA, but neither does Blake Griffin.

So don’t judge me.

Scary news for the Raiders…well more scary than usual. Not as scary as their record was last year (4-12), but Terrelle Pryor could be released. According to Alex Marvez:

Source tells Fox Sports that Raiders have received trade feelers for QB Terrelle Pryor. If no deal made, Pryor’s release expected in April.

Mike Trout and Miguel Cabrera faced one another. And it was beautiful. Mainly because of Mike Trout.

And according to Jeff Passan, of Yahoo Sports, he is comparing the duo to Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. (The home run chasing years I presume, not the “I don’t speak English all of a sudden years”). Still, it’s a very big honor to be compared to two of the Home Run Kings.

Bobby Abreu will be back in the Bigs…finally.

The 40 year-old has spent a lot of time on AAA Las Vegas and is finally making his MLB debut in 2014. He has been in the Bigs for 17 seasons, I was eight when he started his career. I was the same size, but just a wee bit less smart. But not by a lot.

NFL and weed: together in merriment…again, AND bath salts?. According to Vincent Frank of, well, this website, NFL draft prospect Louchiez Purifoy, was busted for marijuana and bath salts. No, not the ones you soak in after a deep workout, those weird zombie ones. Frank says according to officials:

A law enforcement source told The Sun that Purifoy, who has been projected to be an early-round selection in the NFL draft that begins May 8, was not arrested at the time because he agreed to cooperate as an informant for the Gainesville Alachua County Drug Task Force.

You will fall in love with someone who doesn’t like sports, this is how you deal with it. Dumping him/her isn’t the only option…

Yasiel Puig is receiving death threats. YIKES!

Those Warriors though…

I already mentioned Blake Griffin, but I think it’s about damn time the Golden State Warriors got some love.
