Sporting Kansas City striker Alan Pulido will miss the 2022 season due to a knee injury, the team said Tuesday.
Pulido, 30, will have surgery on his left knee on Monday and will be sidelined for nine to 12 months. The operation will be performed by Dr. Bert Mandelbaum and Dr. Clint Soppe in Los Angeles.
Pulido registered 14 goals and eight assists in 33 matches (26 starts) during his first two seasons with SKC in 2020 and 2021.
He previously played for the Liga MX clubs Guadalajara (2016-19) and Tigres UANL (2010-14) in his native Mexico, along with stints in Greece with Levadiakos and Olympiacos.
Pulido has earned 20 caps and scored five goals with the Mexican national team.
