West Ham United have made an important decision on the future of manager Nunu Espirito Santo after the club’s damaging 2-1 Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers are mired in a relegation battle, sitting 18th in the Premier League standings and just seven points from safety.

However, despite renewed calls for Santo’s dismissal from several quarters over poor results, the club is poised to stick with the Portuguese manager.

West Ham Board Puts Faith In Nunu Espirito Santo Despite Winless Run

The decision from West Ham comes in the wake of a painful 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest – Nuno’s former employers – at the London Stadium on Tuesday night, stretching their winless streak to 10 games.

With the atmosphere at the club turning toxic and fans increasingly vocal in their desire for managerial change, speculation had been mounting that the Portuguese tactician would be eventually relieved of his duties.

However, a report from Sky Sports revealed that the club’s hierarchy is not currently planning any change that will impact Espirito Santo’s position.

Instead, the board appears determined to provide Nuno with the resources to turn the situation around, viewing the January transfer window as the solution to their on-pitch woes rather than a managerial change.

The reason behind the decision to back him reportedly stems from the nature of the performance against Nottingham Forest.

While the result was another loss, decision-makers at the club felt the team’s display represented a significant improvement compared to the abject 3-0 surrender against bottom-of-the-table Wolves just days earlier.

Hence, this perception of progress bought Santo a much-needed lifeline at the club, as he navigates this difficult period.
