Founded in 1992, the English Premier League has seen a great amount of talented soccer players take the field over the past thirty-plus years. Yet, there’s never been another player in EPL history like Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

The 22-year-old striker has been making waves all season, but now the Leeds, England native also has his name in the record books.

Playing in his first season of EPL after being with Borussia Dortmund from 2019-2022, Haaland set a new single-season scoring record with his 35th goal on Wednesday.

As mentioned, this sets a new bar for EPL soccer players to clear, with the previous mark set by Alan Shearer back in 1995 with 34 goals. Notably, Shearer tied the mark set by Andy Coal the previous season.

Some may remember when Mohamed Saleh came close, back in 2018, when he scored 32 goals but ultimately came up shy of the record. As they say, records were meant to be broken. While Haaland may have the record now, who’s to say he can’t top his goal next season?

Plus, Manchester City still has five more games on their schedule, meaning the record of 35 could even be pushed to 36, 37, or more. With Haaland scoring 35 goals in 31 games so far, there’s no telling what he can do with five more chances to push the record further out of reach.
