It is no secret that Lionel Messi‘s arrival in Major League Soccer has undoubtedly elevated the league to new heights. And now, his fellow compatriot Sergio Aguero has nothing but high praise for the Inter Miami superstar.

Aguero, who played for Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and FC Barcelona is best known for his footballing IQ and clinical finishing as a striker.

Although he was forced into early retirement in 2021 at the age of 33 due to a heart condition, the Man City legend has thrown support behind Messi and his future soccer ambitions.

Aguero talked about his undying love and solid backing for Lionel Messi in a recent interview.

Sergio Aguero claims the MLS is taken seriously because of Lionel Messi

Speaking to Stake earlier this month, Sergio Aguero said Messi has caused a revolution in the league while placing it as the reason players from top leagues abroad now flock to the MLS.

“I don’t know who isn’t taking the MLS seriously,” he said.

“Leo’s arrival caused a real revolution, and more and more stars are choosing to play in MLS. Every year the league improves, and that’s a fact.”

The now 37-year-old further revealed that the 8x-Ballon d’Or winner has ambitions in becoming a club executive after retirement, while adding that he will support Messi in whatever he desires.

“Recently, I saw an interview where he said he likes the idea of being a club president,” Aguero said. “The truth is, he can do whatever he wants. Leo is passionate about football, and whatever he does will have his signature.”

“I think Leo is really enjoying this present moment, and he’ll keep enjoying it until the day he decides to retire,” Sergio Aguero added.
