Six ridiculously overpriced NFL players on FanDuel for Week 3

Fantasy football Week 2 is in the books and while there were some winners out there, millions of people picked the wrong guys for their FanDuel teams and wound up losing big last week.

With that said, here are six NFL players who are ridiculously overpriced in FanDuel for Week 3 based on their sub-standard production or their terrible Week 3 matchups.

So, steer clear and don’t get ripped off.

Andrew Luck at Tennessee Titans ($9,000)

Luck enters Week 3 as FanDuel’s second-highest priced quarterback at $9,000 behind Aaron Rodgers ($9,100).

After Luck’s horrific performance in Monday Night Football against the New York Jets, who would even trust starting him? Anyone who had Luck playing on Monday when he threw three interceptions, committed a fumble, scored only one touchdown and rewarded eight measly fantasy points, surely lost.

So far during the first two weeks of the NFL season, Luck ranks 27th in fantasy points among his fellow quarterbacks. So, why the high price?

Luck’s next matchup is on the road against the Tennessee Titans who have yielded the ninth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks so far this season. He simply can’t be trusted for the high price paid in Week 3.

Calvin Johnson vs. Denver Broncos ($8,200)

Johnson is the fourth-most expensive wide receiver in FanDuel leagues this week, priced at $8,200.

This might be based on the fact that he actually had a decent fantasy performance (10 receptions, 83 yards and one touchdown) in Week 2. However, in Week 3, Johnson and his banged up quarterback Matthew Stafford face the Denver Broncos.

So far this season, the Broncos defense has allowed the least fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Johnson will be hard-pressed to repeat last week’s performance against a staunch Denver secondary that has only allowed 102 total wide receiver yards and zero touchdowns to the position in two weeks.

DeMarco Murray at New York Jets ($7,800)

Murray enters Week 3 as the seventh-most pricey running back in FanDuel.

However, has he rewarded the seventh-most fantasy points to his owners so far this season? No. Murray currently ranks 18th among his fellow running backs and has been a horrible disappointment as an overall first pick in regular leagues.

Therefore, there is no way anyone should trust Murray to reward bank heading into Week 3 to play on the road against the New York Jets. Over the past two weeks, the Jets have only allowed 115 rushing yards to running backs and and zero scores to the position.

Murray looked looked like an old man last week when he managed only two rushing yards on 13 attempts, against the Dallas Cowboys — a “historically ineffective” performance. Leave him for someone else to waste their money on in Week 3.

Demaryius Thomas at Detroit Lions ($8,400)

Thomas, at $8,400, has no business being the third most-expensive wide receiver entering into Week 3.

As it stands, Thomas currently ranks 27th in wide receiver fantasy points and he has yet to put a score on the board. Unfortunately, Thomas draws double coverage while fellow receiver Emmanuel Sanders does all the scoring.

Thomas has 15 catches so far this season which is impressive. However, there are cheaper FanDuel players who have piled up more catches than Thomas such as Julian Edelman ($7,700) and Jarvis Landry ($7,600) who are much better values.

Until Thomas starts scoring, he’s too expensive to invest in.

Drew Brees at Carolina Panthers ($8,400)

The going price for Brees in Week 3 is $8,400 which makes him the fifth-highest priced FanDuel quarterback this week.

Provided Brees plays due to his questionable status for a bruised rotator cuff, it would be foolish to spend $8,400 on the dinged-up veteran. Anyone who watched him in action versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers knows Brees isn’t going to automatically spring back into 100 percent health after six days of rest.

Brees should have taken the Bucs defense to the cleaners after what Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota accomplished against it in Week 1 with four passing touchdowns.

There is no way Brees is worth the money playing on the road against the Carolina Panthers who have allowed the eighth-least fantasy points to quarterbacks the past two weeks.

Adam Vinatieri at Tennessee Titans ($4,900)

Some people say that kickers don’t count in fantasy football.

However, Vinatieri, priced at $4,900 in Week 3, versus cheaper kickers valued at $4,600 is a complete joke. Currently, Vinatieri has registered one fantasy point in two weeks. Or, if you play in a fantasy league that deducts points for missed field goals, then perhaps Vinatieri registers negative points.

The Colts are having issues scoring so Vinatieri has only tallied one point after touchdown (PAT) kick. Additionally, the 42 year old kicker has missed both of his field goal attempts so far this season.

At the end of the day, Vinatieri shouldn’t be trusted in anyone’s FanDuel lineup considering the Colts turbulent 0-2 season start.
