The TCU women’s basketball team was forced to forfeit its next two games due to a shortage of players.

The Big 12 announced Wednesday that the Horned Frogs’ home game Wednesday night against No. 7 Kansas State and Saturday’s game at No. 24 Iowa State had been canceled.

Kansas State and Iowa State each will be credited with a win in conference play and TCU will be saddled with two league losses. The losses will not count toward the Horned Frogs’ overall record.

“The cancellations are a result of injuries within the TCU program and ensure the health and safety of the program’s student-athletes,” the school said in a news release. “Both contests will count as a forfeit for TCU in accordance with Big 12 rules. The games will not be made up.”

TCU is 14-4 overall and now 1-6 in the Big 12 with the additional defeats. The Horned Frogs lost their fourth straight game on Saturday at Houston, 77-66. They also lost point guard Jaden Owens to a torn right ACL in that game, which saw 10 players take the court for TCU.
