Shohei Ohtani to begin throwing ‘on the sooner side of imminent’

The Los Angeles Angels shared some good news Thursday morning as it pertains to two-way star Shohei Ohtani, who underwent Tommy John surgery last year.

Manager Brad Ausmus said that Ohtani is going to begin throwing “on the sooner side of imminent,” per Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times, which obviously means it’s going to be happening very soon.

Once that happens, Ohtani will decrease his hitting workload, Ausmus added.

Ohtani’s rookie campaign in Los Angeles was a smashing success, barring his injury. He went 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 10 starts as a pitcher, and batted .285 with 22 home runs and 61 RBI.
