The 2025 NFL Combine is just about over. Some players did a lot to improve their draft stock, while others only worsened it. Shedeur Sanders lands squarely in the latter category.
Even if he had a large mountain to climb, the University of Colorado quarterback had a chance to potentially establish himself as the top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Yet, Deion Sanders’ son opted not to perform drills that showed off his trademark accuracy or how much arm strength he had.
Looking back, maybe Sanders would have been better off showing scouts and NFL talent evaluators what he was capable of because his stock is trending down.

NFL teams ‘cooling on’ Shedeur Sanders ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are the top two quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. Many analysts seem to feel like Ward is the better prospect of the two players, yet there’s still over a month before the first round of the draft kicks off on April 24. This would presumably give Sanders plenty of time to close the gap and potentially surpass Ward.
Remember, all it takes is one team falling in love with a prospect for them to get selected, which means Sanders would conceivably still have a shot at becoming the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
However, according to Sportskeeda’s Tony Pauline, NFL teams “are cooling” on Sanders during the pre-draft process.
“Teams are cooling on Shedeur Sanders for a number of reasons. The first being that Sanders showed little to no improvement in his game last season and made some poor choices. People are also a little turned off by the antics since January. People tell me that they do not believe the New York Giants would select him with the third pick and the very earliest he’ll come off the board is the Raiders, who own the sixth selection.”

Right now there are five teams selecting in the first seven picks of the 2025 NFL Draft, which would indicate that Sanders has a strong chance of being drafted in the first 10 picks. Yet, there was a time when he was being discussed as the potential No. 1 overall pick. However, those days appear to be gone.
