Barring a “historic” trade, Williams is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, but the 2025 NFL Draft remains wide open. In any event, Sanders believes he’s a better prospect than USC’s QB, better than Drake Maye, and better than Heisman winner Jayden Daniels too.
Shedeur Sanders believes he should be 2024 NFL Draft’s top pick
Deion Sanders’ son Shedeur Sanders isn’t heading to the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s set to play another season with the Colorado Buffaloes.
Yet, even though he’s not in this year’s draft class, Colorado’s QB says he doesn’t see a player who’s better than him.
“I’m biased, but I don’t see a quarterback that’s better than me. I don’t see a quarterback that went through as much adversity as me, that had four [offensive coordinators] in four years.”
“Coming from an HBCU, coming to a Power Five [program], having real pressure on me. A lot of people don’t understand, that’s a lot more adversity than you think just even being the son of Deion Sanders.”
Shedeur Sanders comparing himself to other QB prospects
While Sanders won’t hear his name called in April, he still says he’s worth a first-round pick.
“You put any of those guys in [my] situation, they’re not doing that. I respect their game, I respect what they’re doing because to be able to be a first-round draft pick, to be able to have success on the field, it takes a lot of hard work and determination and everything.
“But the most pressure and the safest bet is me.”
Sanders will get an entire year to show why he’s worth the investment ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, and who knows, he might even become the No. 1 overall pick in a class that has yet to establish a frontrunner.
