Sepp Kuss ended a decade-long drought for American cyclists Sunday by winning Stage 15 of the Tour de France.
The 26-year-old from Durango, Colo., became the first U.S. stage winner since Tyler Farrar in 2011.
Kuss seized the lead on the final climb up the Col de Beixalis and held off Spain’s Alejandro Valverde on the descent to complete the 118-mile course through the mountains from Ceret to Andorre-la-Vieille.

Valverde finished second and Wouter Poels of the Netherlands was third.
Overall leader Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia holds a lead of five minutes and 18 seconds over Colombia’s Rigberto Uran.
Monday is a rest day for the Tour de France. Stage 16 on Tuesday runs 105 miles from Pas de la Case to Saint-Gaudens.
