Tuesday did not represent great news around the college football world. A day that could end up being historical has already included both the Big Ten and PAC-12 canceling fall sports.

Though, as the NCAA continues to fail in its leadership role, other conferences are going against the grain.

SEC releases statement, seems to indicate 2020 season will go on as planned

This is not an announcement that clearly concludes the 2020 college football season will start in less than three weeks. Though, based on what we’ve read relating to the SEC, that seems to be the approach the conference is taking.

Expanded SEC during 2020 college football season?

The SEC has yet to release its altered conference-only schedule for the upcoming campaign. There’s a reason for this. Some programs within the PAC-12 and Big Ten might want to join the SEC. They seem to be open to that idea.

Another note on Tuesday indicated that the Big 12 could look into canceling its season, which would dramatically change the landscape of college football. Meanwhile, the ACC is taking the same approach as the SEC right now.

What does it all mean? There’s certainly a chance we could see two mega conferences if the 2020 season goes on as planned starting in less than three weeks. But for now, everything remains up in the air during this late stage in the process.
