Carolina Panthers founder and owner Jerry Richardson, who’s being investigated by the NFL for alleged workplace misconduct, announced Sunday that he’s selling his team.
Though he did not mention the investigation in his statement, Richardson wrote, “I believe that it is time to turn the franchise over to new ownership. Therefore, I will put the team up for sale at the conclusion of this NFL season. We will not begin the sale process, nor will we entertain any inquiries, until the very last game is played.”
One person who has already expressed interest in purchasing the team from Richardson is none other than Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, known for his career as a businessman, hip-hop artist and entrepreneur.
Shortly after Richardson’s announcement, Combs sent the word out on Twitter.

Combs is reported to have a net worth of $820 million, per Forbes, which is more money than Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis is worth personally. However, the Carolina Panthers are valued at around $2.3 billion.
Jerry Richardson ownership group paid $206M for the rights to own and operate the Carolina Panthers in 1993 according to @Forbes
The are worth $2.3B now. This is almost the same haul Donald Sterling made flipping Clippers from $12M to $2B on its sale.

Needless to say, Combs would need other investors to come in with him on any potential deal he attempts to put together if he’s really serious about owning this franchise.
