When the Seattle Seahawks moved on from offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell earlier this week, it seemed to indicate head coach Pete Carroll was looking for a different scheme on that side of the ball.
Based on this most recent piece of information, that’s most definitely the case. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks are reportedly interested in former New York Jets and then St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

This is somewhat out of left field.
Schottenheimer, 44, has worked each of the past two seasons as the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterbacks coach, helping Jacoby Brissett progress under center this past season. But he has a much-maligned history as an offensive coordinator in the NFL.
As the Jets’ offensive coordinator from 2006-2011, Schottenheimer led four offenses that finished in the bottom third in the league in total yards. Then, in the same role for the Rams from 2012-14, he led that unit to bottom-10 rankings each season.
This isn’t exactly the type of track record that indicates Schottenheimer would turn around a flailing Seahawks offense.
