Multiple reports surfaced on Wednesday that the Seattle Seahawks waived rookie fourth-round pick Gary Jennings.
It was somewhat of a surprising move given that the wide receiver was a mid-round selection back in April. While Jennings was inactive for the team’s first three regular-season games, Seattle moving on from him this early didn’t make much sense.
We got further confirmation on Thursday. Seattle officially announced a corresponding roster move after picking up former San Francisco 49ers safety Adrian Colbert. Jennings is not the roster casualty.
“A week after adding Adrian Colbert to their practice squad, the Seahawks promoted the free safety to the 53-man roster. Defensive tackle Bryan Mone was waived to make room on the 53-man roster,” the team announced, via its official website.
That makes a lot more sense. Mane is an undrafted free agent from Michigan. General manager John Schneider and Co. didn’t exhaust a mid-round pick on him mere months ago.
