Despite making it known that he wants to be a part of the New York Giants organization for life, Saquon Barkley sounds pretty happy to join the Philadelphia Eagles. For now, he’ll have to settle for Wellington Mara’s famous phrase, “Once a Giant, always a Giant.

Once free agency opened, and it became clear that the Giants didn’t value their former second overall pick to the same extreme as the Eagles, Barkley left for ‘greener’ pastures. But now after leaving a team that made the postseason just once since arriving in New York six years ago, Barkley is joining the Eagles, who have reached the playoffs five out of six times in that same time frame.

As mentioned, Barkley is downright giddy about his opportunities ahead, saying he “feels like a kid in a candy store” in Philadelphia. Yet, there’s still one big change he’d make about the Eagles roster — Bringing All-Pro center Jason Kelce back out of retirement.

Appearing on Jason and Travis Kelce’s podcast, ‘New Heights’, Barkley couldn’t hide his excitement, and neither could Jason, which is when Saquon tried recruiting the Eagles legend out of retirement.

“It’s gonna be so fun to watch, it’s gonna be so fun to be a part of, it’s gonna be great.” – Jason Kelce

“You don’t gotta watch it, you know?” – Saquon Barkley

Unfortunately, Jason Kelce wasn’t on board.

“Before you ask me to come back, I’m not doing it, so don’t ask.”

If adding a talented two-time Pro Bowl running back isn’t enough, we’re not sure the 36-year-old center will be able to be lured out of retirement. Yet, the Eagles may be in a good place anyway, thanks to the presence of Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson on the interior.
