The San Francisco Giants had emerged as one of the favorites to land reigning National League Cy Young winner Blake Snell with opening day just a couple weeks away.
We now have more information on this with Jon Heyman of the NY Post reporting that Snell has signed a two-year, $62 million contract with San Francisco. It comes with an opt out after the 2024 MLB season.
This represents the final splashy move during the MLB offseason. It has also been a long time coming with Snell having not found the market he anticipated heading into the winter.

San Francisco now has a legitimate one-two punch atop its rotation with Snell and Logan Webb. They finished one and two in the NL Cy Young voting a season ago.
Snell, 31, pitched to a 14-9 record with a 2.25 ERA and 1.19 WHIP for the division-rival San Diego Padres a season ago. He also struck out 234 batters in 180 innings of work.
For the Giants, adding Snell to the mix comes after what was another disappointing offseason in the Bay Area. It will certainly help San Francisco compete with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks and aforementioned Padres in the National League West this coming season.
