The San Francisco Giants activated first baseman Brandon Belt from the 10-day injury list prior to Thursday’s game against the host Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Giants also placed All-Star right-hander Kevin Gausman on the paternity list.

Belt (knee) had been sidelined with a knee injury since June 23. He started Thursday’s game and was batting seventh in the lineup.

Entering Thursday, the 33-year-old Belt was batting .253 with 11 home runs and 28 RBIs in 55 games this season. He has 149 homers in 11 seasons with the Giants.

Gausman left the team for the birth of a daughter that is slated for Friday in Louisiana. He is expected to be back with the team prior to his next start.

The 30-year-old Gausman gave up one run and five hits over six innings during Wednesday’s 7-1 win over the Diamondbacks. He struck out eight and walked none.

Gausman is 10-5 with a 2.31 ERA this season.

The move involving Gausman comes one day after right-hander Anthony DeSclafani (10-5, 3.28) went on the IL due to shoulder fatigue in his pitching shoulder.
