Greenlaw is in his fifth season, and he’s been with the 49ers ever since he arrived as the 148th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He started today’s game, giving him his second Super Bowl appearance, but now an injury may cost him the rest of the game.

Dre Greenlaw ruled out of Super Bowl with Achilles injury

Just as the San Francisco 49ers’ defense was preparing to take the field, linebacker Dre Greenlaw collapsed just a few feet onto the field at Allegiant Stadium.

As you can see in the clip below, Greenlaw suffered a non-contact leg injury. Later, the broadcast revealed that he’s dealing with an Achilles injury.

Greenlaw is not expected to return for the second half of play. While he was initially listed as questionable to return, he has since been ruled out of action. This was the expectation, being that it was an Achilles injury.

After racking up 120 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and four pass deflections during the regular season, Greenlaw’s loss is a big one for Steve Wilks’ defense, but they still have Fred Warner roaming the middle.
