Sammy Watkins takes issue with reports of broken foot

Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins wants Buffalo Bills fans to question what they’ve been told.

It was reported that Watkins had suffered a broken foot recently, but the Buffalo Bills receiver took to Twitter to seemingly dispute those reports on Monday.

Now, this is really kind of strange.

Tyler Dunn of The Buffalo News was the first to report on the news, noting the Bills were hoping to get him back by training camp. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network soon chimed in that yes, Watkins had broken his foot and that he had a screw inserted to help the bone heal properly. ESPN’s Adam Schefter added his two cents a while later, saying Watkins had broken his foot three weeks earlier and that he’d miss the preseason.

Watkins never straight-up said he didn’t break his foot or have surgery, but he sure makes it seem like the reports are downright incorrect. He also made it clear to a fan who responded with a question about his availability in the preseason that he’s going to be good to go.

He’s probably responding to reported timelines of his recovery, based on all the evidence. Still, he seems awfully sensitive about this. Perhaps it’s because he’s already getting the “injury-prone” label thrown around entering his third year in the league.
