Sam Bradford admits he might not be 100% healthy at any point this year

Sam Bradford says he feels good, and there’s a chance he’ll play this Monday when the Minnesota Vikings play the Chicago Bears. But at this point, even he’s not sure if he’ll be 100-percent healthy at any point this season.

He practiced on Friday for the second day in a row on a limited basis and said he just needs to be able to make it through Saturday.

“I think that’s key for me being able to go out there and play at a high level,” Bradford said, per Brian Murphy of TwinCities.com.

That’s not exactly comforting for Bradford’s fantasy football owners, who won’t know whether to sit or start him this week until probably the last minute. But that’s hardly the most alarming thing.

Bradford continued to discuss his injury, noting he might have to play through pain all year long.

“It was comforting knowing that if things go according to plan, it should be something that eventually goes away,” he said. “I would like it to be 100 percent, but at this point I don’t even know if that’s possible until the bye week or the end of the year. The goal is to feel comfortable moving around, to go out there and play and know I am going to have to play through some discomfort.”

The words “should” and “eventually” are not confidence-inspiring, to say the least.

Bradford’s current injury is on the same left knee he’s had surgically repaired twice before. And while a recent trip to see famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews revealed no structural damage, the fact that there’s still pain and discomfort is troubling.

Officially, Bradford is questionable for Monday’s game. The Vikings are reeling right now, having lost two of their last three games while seeing phenomenal rookie running back Dalvin Cook suffer a season-ending knee injury, to boot.
