New Orleans Saints safety Malcolm Jenkins is one of the better known activists around the National Football League. Jenkins took part in the initial Colin Kaepernick-led national anthem protests back in 2016 and has been a boisterous figure since.
Just recently signed by the Saints after spending six seasons with the Eagles, Jenkins spent his Saturday joining in the massive protests in Philadelphia. He also spoke to those on hand, saying “our voices will no longer be ignored.”
Jenkins, 32, just recently called out teammate Drew Brees after the future Hall of Fame quarterback indicated earlier in the week that protesting during the national anthem is disrespectful. While Brees has since backtracked, this has caused a ton of division within the Saints’ locker room.
For his part, Jenkins spent his first five NFL seasons as Brees’ teammate with the Saints after they made him a first-round pick back in 2009.
